Facing Fear: Journey from RV Paralysis to Fearless Living
Fear is Part of the Journey
Hey there, fellow adventurers!
We’re Todd and Naty, The Nomadpreneurs, and today we’re diving into a story that we know will resonate with so many of you. Recently, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Sharon and Chris on our podcast to talk about fear, RV life, and content creation. Their story is one of bravery, resilience, and learning to push past fear to embrace the life they truly wanted.
If you’ve ever felt stuck, paralyzed by fear, or unsure about taking the leap into a new adventure—whether it’s RV life, starting a business, or sharing your story with the world—this one’s for you. Sharon and Chris’s journey is proof that fear doesn’t have to hold you back.
The Paralysis of Starting RV Life
Sharon and Chris bought their RV with big dreams of hitting the road and living a life of freedom, exploration, and adventure. But as soon as they made the purchase, fear crept in. What if they weren’t ready? What if they broke something? What if they couldn’t handle the challenges of RV life?
For six months, their RV sat parked, unused. Every time they thought about taking it out, the “what-ifs” would overwhelm them, keeping them stuck in place. As Sharon shared with us during the podcast, “It wasn’t just the RV it was the fear of the unknown. The fear of leaving our comfort zone and stepping into something completely unfamiliar.”
Chris admitted that he felt the same. I kept telling myself, ‘We’ll start next week,’ but next week turned into next month, and then months passed by. It felt safer to stay put than to risk failing.
Overcoming the Fear to Hit the Road
So, what changed? For Sharon and Chris, the turning point came when they realized that waiting for the fear to disappear wasn’t working. They decided to take one small, imperfect step forward.
“We told ourselves, ‘Let’s just take a short trip no big plans, no pressure,’” Chris said. “And that’s what we did. We packed up the RV and drove just a couple of hours away from home. Once we were out there, we realized it wasn’t as scary as we made it out to be.”
That first trip was far from perfect. They made mistakes, forgot things, and had a few stressful moments. But instead of letting those moments discourage them, they saw them as learning opportunities. With each trip they took, their confidence grew, and the fear started to shrink.
As Sharon put it, “We realized we didn’t have to be perfect RVers we just had to try. The more we faced our fears, the less power they had over us.”
Sharon’s Fear of Being a Content Creator
While Sharon and Chris were learning to embrace RV life, another fear loomed in the background—Sharon’s fear of becoming a content creator.
“I’ve always loved the idea of sharing our journey, but putting myself out there felt terrifying,” Sharon admitted. “What if people judged me? What if I wasn’t good enough? I kept telling myself that I needed more time, better equipment, or more confidence before I could start.”
Chris encouraged her to take the leap, but Sharon’s fear of being vulnerable held her back. It wasn’t until she heard another content creator say, “You don’t have to be perfect; you just have to start,” that something clicked.
“That phrase stuck with me,” Sharon said. “I realized I’d been waiting for perfection, but perfection doesn’t exist. I decided to post my first video, even though it wasn’t perfect, and the response was overwhelming. People were so supportive, and it made me realize that my fear was mostly in my head.”
Now, Sharon is thriving as a content creator, sharing their RV adventures and inspiring others to face their fears.
Lessons from Sharon & Chris’s Journey
Sharon and Chris’s story is a powerful reminder that fear doesn’t have to define your journey. Here are some of the key lessons they shared with us during the podcast:
1. Start Small: You don’t have to take a giant leap all at once. Start with a short RV trip or post one piece of content. Small steps can build momentum.
2. Expect Imperfection:** Mistakes are part of the process. Instead of fearing them, embrace them as opportunities to learn and grow.
3. Focus on the “Why”:** Remember why you started. For Sharon and Chris, it was about freedom, adventure, and connecting with others. Keeping that in mind helped them push past the fear.
4. Take Action Despite Fear:** Fear doesn’t disappear on its own. The only way to overcome it is to take action, even when you’re scared.
5. Celebrate Your Wins:** Every step forward—no matter how small—is a victory. Celebrate your progress and use it as fuel to keep going.

Sharon and Chris’s story is an inspiring example of how facing fear can lead to incredible growth and fulfillment. From being paralyzed by fear to traveling the country and sharing their journey with the world, they’ve shown that fear isn’t the end it’s just the beginning.
